Ongoing Events

We have many projects that are completely accomplished. The currently ongoing briefing of the project is given as below:

  1.   Promoting Agro-Processing Based Micro-Enterprise Development with Improved Water Mill Technology in Far-West Development Region of Nepal

Background

Sustainable Energy and Technology Management (P) Ltd (SETM) JV with Rural Development Service Centre (RDSC), Doti, has signed a service agreement with SNV Netherlands Development Organization, Nepal to act as consultant for Local Capacity Building (LCB) for Promoting Agro-Processing Based Micro-Enterprise Development with Improved Water Mill Technology in Far-West Development Region of Nepal.

The project was commenced from 01 April, 2015 and is being implemented to provide mechanical power and electricity with improved water mill (IWM) technology to support small business development and income generation with the establishment of 15 IWM units with 3 kW installation capacity for each that will be instrumental to establish 30 agro processing based micro enterprises in far west development region of Nepal.

As seen today, IWM promotion and sustainability depends in three main areas: appropriate technology which should reflect the need and requirement of the beneficial household (electrification, mill or enterprise purposes); easy and effective access to finance by this household and appropriate market enabling environment – the agro-processing products should have competitive values and be marketed.

Therefore, there is a need to upscale achievements of the IWM electrification with innovation (appropriate technology options), appropriate enabling environment (sufficient agro-processing units linked with market) and access to finance for IWME installation and establishment of agro-based enterprises. This will be achieved by creating enabling environment for privatization and commercialization which will include capacity development, facilitation of the access to credit finance, appropriate technology and establishing local after sales services etc. Beside that the project aims to support local farmers to add values on their products for better prices and link with market. Beside electricity to the households, both the mechanical and electrical energy will be used for running agro processing units, operating small scale business and support household level income activities.

Objectives

The main objective of this project is to provide mechanical power and electricity with improved water mill (IWM) technology to support small business development and income generation with the establishment of 15 IWM units with 3 kW  installation capacity for each that will be instrumental to establish 30 agro processing based micro enterprises in far west development region of Nepal.
